The story of a crappy NN1 Dev Club logo
Apparently while having a shower people have the best ideas. Drawing in the wet room is a little bit hard though. The other place where great ideas occur to my brain and where the pencil is perfectly allowed is the toilet. And this is where I created a logo for the meetup that I run with my good buddy Darren, NN1 Dev Club. The “NN1” is the postcode district prefix for Northampton’s town centre, where we both live.
It took me a few minutes to draw it. I know exactly how long my sitdowns take, and I don’t remember this one being any longer than usual. I drew it in Procreate on the iPad Pro.
I’m not great at vector graphics editing, so instead of trying to convert it myself, I sent it to my good friend Marcin. He sent me back the final result in about seven minutes. Seven is a good number, right?
Pardon me a clickbait title, there’s nothing crappy about the logo itself contrary to its origin story. The logo served us well for the last three years and is everywhere: on t-shirts, banners, lanyards, hoodies, and thousands of stickers all over town. It brings me joy to see it in the wild, especially because I know how it came to be. Now you know too.
